neither...nor...

I seem to have surrendered to the charm of collages recently, not least because they are much easier to handle than paint and canvases and they appeal to my ability as an artisan rather than an artist.

This is not the collage that I had intended to post at this time but I have become rather dissatisfied with that one, if I can rescue it I will post it at a later date.

I like it very much. Each element almost stands alone. Really quite daring. You allow everything to show, I think you are doing something very new. I can look at this work and I can reassemble it into it's component parts (in my minds eye) but it also works as a composition. You have stopped at just the right moment, as a viewer, I can look at it, and think of many more things you could do. This is good, leaving "room" for the viewer to participate. You are doing something, really very nice. I like these colors you are working with as well.

What a challenge it would be to translate it into paint! But it isn't necessary, as it is beautiful as it is.

This one is fascinating...I especially like the relationship of the tall pointed shape on the upper right with the square piece with the "N" design on the bottom left...those two pieces first pulled me in, then my eye moves about the central shapes for more...

I go back and forth between collage and painting-- with collage I find myself in a more meditative state- choosing and moving papers around until they 'fit' together and feel right-- love the textures and muted browns in your collage.

I like this one, as well as the title!
Tried to read the text...(?). You realy build this piece like a house!

I like the title and the bits, they all work nicely together and I like to work between painting and collage and a combination. to work without any rules is so liberating.

Hi Ian
Wonderful piece and I also love your tags...hessian and neither...hmmmmmmmm.

I too enjoy moving between these two worlds of applying paint and building/crafting collaged surfaces.
